The Thames Valley Festival Orchestra

A large symphony orchestra founded in 2023, with players from the South East of England.

The first concert the orchestra performed was at the Leytonstone Festival on Sept 9th, 2023. The work played at this concert was ‘Passing Open Windows: A Symphonic Tribute to Queen‘, arranged by Dee Palmer. The movements of the work comprise Queen’s most popular songs, arranged to cross many styles from baroque to classical to rock, all for large symphony orchestra. This work, recorded by the RPO in 1996, had not been performed in the UK since 1997 until the orchestra brought it back to the public’s attention in Leytonstone, September, 2023 and Windsor in December 2023, and Dorchester Abbey, Dorchester on Thames, April 2024. Next concert will be a performance of Dee Palmer’s Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band orchestral arrangements plus a selection of Queen arrangments in September 2024 in Reading, Berkshire.
